Event Description

Volunteers are needed to help build and improve trails at the Yegua Knobbs Preserve located about 40 miles east of Austin near the community of McDade. This preserve is under the stewardship of the Pines and Prairies Land Trust and has many unique features, including a spring-fed pond or two, and several sandy tree-covered hills.

This will be a one day project so be sure to bring your lunch, snacks and water bottle.  Wear hiking or work boots and bring a good pair of work gloves.  You might also want to wear a hat and sunscreen in case the sun is out in force; however, there are plenty of trees around.

Everyone should meet at 8:30AM at the U.S. Post Office on Waco Street in lovely "downtown" McDade.  From the Post Office, Jeremiah Jarvis (a representative from the Pines & Prairies Land Trust) will lead everyone to the preserve.

There are no "facilities" at the preserve so come prepared!  You might also want to bring a folding chair to sit on during lunch.

Please allow plenty of time to get there!  The preserve is at least an hour, if not more, from the northeastern side of Austin so if you're coming from elsewhere, it may take even longer.
